Class 2: Feb 27
Our first class back from winter break was somewhat of a skeleton crew with two students in attendance. That is OK - these things happen in an adult program with tiny classes! As a result we kept our agenda somewhat modest, reviewing the same elements we started last time.

Homework

Keep practicing your treble note-reading in Level Up - let's try to get into "level four" this week.

Try your hand at Worksheet #2 - Counting Rhythms.

Also, try to do a little conducting in 4/4 - practice doing this to any music you want (though, of course, you want to make sure it is "in four." I would guess that 90% of a typical music collection can be conducted in four.)

I may make a groovy pedagogical video to demonstrate the four pattern this weekend - in the mean time you can look the diagram on page 6 of Handout #2, and maybe take a look at this guy's youtube which is good enough I suppose. (You don't need a baton, of course, you can mimic what he's doing with your bare hand or hold a pencil.)

Finally, I would like you to practice singing the first three melodies in our Sight-Singing Packet with the "do re mi" syllables.

(Also, during class I expressed concern that our numbers might be shrinking and that we'd get canceled. However, we still have 4 people registered and thus should be safe. So that's good!)
