Class 5: March 20
Important note: We have the next two weeks off due to Spring Break. The next class is April 10.

This class was pretty interesting. We picked up a new student, which is going to be nice.

We started by playing a little piano, namely the Ode to Joy. And we touched on the first three melodies from our Sight-Singing Anthology.

Then it was time for our first serious work with the materials that make up music. We talked about building major scales, step by step, with the WWHWWWH pattern. It's all explained in our Handout #7.

For homework I gave out a Major Scales Worksheet which is going to be a little challenging, I think. Remember to keep using the piano keyboard for reference even as you get into the other sections. There is a nice big blank keyboard at the end of Handout #4 that might come in handy.

So the worksheet is our main assignment for this long break, though of course I would encourage you to revisit your note-reading, rhythm, piano, and sight-singing at your leisure.
